On the 12th May 1980 I popped out on the Severn Bridge, evidently wanting to be different from day one. I was born into a family of skydivers, my grandfather was a paratrooper during WW2 and both my parents served and jumped within the army. I spent most of my childhood on airfields and have been packing parachutes since I was 8 years old and completed my first jump for my 16th birthday

      Inspiration

My mother is a huge inspiration to me. On one of her daily jumps, when she was 23 years old, her main and reserve parachute tangled and she hit the ground from 5000 feet, well a concrete helicopter pad to be precise. She was automatically presumed dead until someone noticed her moving, she was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance where she spent the next 6 months in a full body cast. My mother spent 2 years in hospital and was told she would never walk again or have children but after 3 years and with a body almost fully made of metal she gave birth to my older sister and me 2 years later. She is still walking to this day and went on to complete more jumps since then

      A true inspiration

      Life

I like to think I have a sense of adventure. I have been jumping for 24 years and I am ex-military, where I served in Iraq on Op Telic in 2006. I’m currently a skydive instructor examiner and a member of Mountain Man Base Team. I’ve been teaching skydiving for over 13 years and have taught over 3000+ students. I’ve been a display jumper for the Black Knights, Tigers, Wings and assisted the Red Devils on a number of displays. I’ve also jumped over central London out of a Chinook to name a few. All in all, adding up to over 3000+ skydives and base jumps

      ReBorn

In 2020, I decided to base jump near my local waterfall which resulted in me having to drag myself 285 metres to my car with a shattered leg. My leg was placed in a metal cage for 5 months . My injury inspired me to do something new whilst in recovery I tried multiple activities and that’s when I took up making beanies. It's a great skill to have as I’m always losing mine. A few people started asking where I got the beanies from and asked me if I could make one for them. From there I got the idea to create Big Base Beanie
